SAT EBRW Score Gains by Ability Level - McHenry, IL

SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW), Total Group (n = 110)

During the 2016–17 school year, 110 students at McHenry Community High School (IL) participated in the ZAPS program to prepare for the SAT. Their SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) scores average 529.9 (out of 800 possible) before ZAPS training. After the ZAPS program, the scores of 80 students increased, 6 remained the same, and 24 decreased. On average, their SAT EBRW scores improved by 31.2 points to an average of 561.1. 

SAT EBRW Higher-Performing Group (n = 69)

Sixty-nine (69) McHenry Community High School (IL) juniors scored 500 or better on the SAT EBRW Pretest. After participating in the ZAPS program, the scores of 50 students increased, 6 remained the same, and 13 decreased. Their SAT EBRW scores improved by an average of 28.3 points.

SAT EBRW Lower-Performing Group (n = 41)

Forty-one (41) McHenry Community High School (IL) juniors scored below 500 on the SAT EBRW Pretest. After participating in the ZAPS program, the scores of 30 students increased, 0 remained the same, and 11 decreased. Their SAT EBRW scores improved by an average of 36.1 points.
